Biography
Dr Leigh Carriage is a Senior Lecturer in the Bachelor of Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University. Leigh completed her PhD, Doctorate in Philosophy (Composition) at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Sydney University. Creative research continues to be at the heart of her academic practice.
Research
Leigh's current research interests include creative processes in composition, arranging, improvisation, equity and diversity, vocal performance, hybridity, pedagogy and recording.
Community engagement
Leigh has a scholarly interest and commitment to community engagement and coordinated the APRA AMCOS Songwriting workshops and the Women in Contemporary Music website.

Member/Presenter, Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Member, International Association for the Study of Popular Music, Musicological Society of Australia & APRA AMCOS.

Supervision
Leigh supervises postgraduate researchers often specialising in practice-based research, composition and voice.
Teaching
Leigh's teaching is underpinned by research, teaching broadly in a variety of units: composition, arranging, instrumental teaching, music industry careers and ensemble direction.
