Thilinika is currently a PhD candidate at Southern Cross University at the Faculty of Education. Her research mainly focuses on climate change and working with children and young people to discuss about it through speculative drama where children are co-researchers of the project. Thilinika's research is cross disciplinary and believes that the arts and sciences, when combined and connected together forms a very strong bond to seek answers to many issues the world faces. Thilinika works as a Research Assistant at the Faculty and also as a Project Officer in the New South Wales Council of Deans in Education (NSWCDE) grassroot research agenda setting project. She was a Finalist at the SCU Student Excellence Awards 2021 and also won the 2021 Gold Coast Student Excellence Award for fostering creative arts.
