Colin Klupiec

Biography

Colin Klupiec is a lecturer in Design and Technology in the Faculty of Education. Colin has over 25 years' experience teaching across Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) subjects in indepedent schools in NSW. In addition, Colin's experience includes lecturing in Teacher Education in TAS and Professional Experience subjects. With a strong foundation in workshop practice, Colin's interest focues on promoting approaches to teaching that better enable students and teachers to bring design projects to life. Colin has a particular interest in additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping.

Research

Colin's doctoral research investigated secondary student conceptualisations of subjects that face survival dilemmas. The study focussed on technology and languages subjects. Participant drawn images were analysed for value propositions in those subjects which motivated students to study them and identified potential factors that might hinder such motivation. Colin's current research interests are centred around alternative approaches to technology education through the use of emerging additive manufacturing technologies.
