Kevin is a geographer whose research interests include nature-based/eco/wildlife tourism as tools for nature conservation; heritage interpretation; zoos as tourist attractions; tourist attraction design; pet keeping; animals, leisure and tourism; and gay and lesbian identities, tourism and leisure. He has authored or co-authored four books, (Gay Tourism, Culture and Context, co-authored with Gordon Waitt, 2008; Snake Bitten, Eric Worrell and the Australian Reptile Park, co-authored with Dr Nancy Cushing, 2010; Slow Tourism: Experiences and Modalities, co-edited with Simone Fullagar and Erica Wilson, 2011; and Tourism: Understanding Diverse Relationships, 2015). He has also published 20 book chapters; almost 40 refereed journal articles; and presented more than 40 papers at conferences. Kevin has supervised 10 Honours students, 8 PhD students and is currently supervising 5 PhD students. He is always keen to hear from students interested in Honours, Masters or Doctoral level study. Kevin's leisure interests include collecting natural history books, herpetology/herpetoculture, gardening, travel and bushwalking. He will be on secondment as Academic Director, Institute of Business Studies, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea for most of 2016. Back to Staff Directory
