Dr Neck graduated with degrees in Business and Industrial Psychology (Honours) and Public Administration from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and a Doctorate in Strategic Management from the Faculty of Economics at the University of New England . His early career path included several postings with the Shell Group of Companies Ltd., (1958-63) as Company Psychologist in the Personnel, Legal and Industrial Relations Office and as OIC Consumer Research in the Chairman's Office and the Operations Research Department. He was then appointed Head of Western Research Services conducting market research and providing corporate services before taking up post as Director of Applied Research Projects at the University of Western Australia.
He then joined the United Nations International Labour Organisation (ILO) where his work included field postings in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific and as Head of Entrepreneurship and Management Development at ILO Headquarters, Geneva . During this period he was seconded to several international assistance agencies to work on project development including technology transfer, income generation and employment creation. These aid agencies included the World Bank; Asian Development Bank; and the Danish, Swedish, German and Australian government aid agencies. On retiring from the ILO in 1994, Dr Neck was appointed Professor of International Management and Development at Southern Cross University, NSW and assisted in establishing a network of overseas centres to promote the university?s business research and educational services.
Dr Neck works with several universities in Asia, Africa and Europe as well as SCU and is a Director of Public and Private Companies specialising in the field of High Technology. His research interests and publications include strategic management, business and industrial psychology, international management and marketing.Back to Staff Directory
