I am an Adjunct Professor, Southern Cross University, NSW; an Adjunct Professor, Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS, Sydney; and a Fellow of the Botin Centre, Santander, Spain. I am Co-Founder and Director of Research of the "Oceanic Research Institute", and owner of the "Oceanic Research Institute" Flagship: 105-year-old Swedish Schooner, La Boheme. As former President (2009-2017) World Futures Studies Federation, a UNESCO and UN-ECOSOC partner founded in Paris in 1973, I led the global peak body for futurists from 60 countries. As a futurist, author, researcher and psychologist, I raise awareness about why we need humans, not robots, to navigate complex, volatile, global futures. The complexity of global-societal challenge is beyond binary machines. We need human-centred, creative, big picture, long-term thinking. My recent books include "Postformal Education: A Philosophy for Complex Futures" (Springer, 2016), and "The Future: A Very Short Introduction" (Oxford University Press, 2017). Back to Staff Directory
