My research expertise spans the areas of pleasure, emotional intelligence, and gender roles. My work in pleasure and pleasurable emotions focuses on the relationship between these and human health, resilience, creativity and flourishing. I am currently analysing the results from The National Pleasure Audit, a project that will uncover the ways Australians find pleasure in their lives. I also consult and run workshops to help individuals and teams tap into these benefits in an engaging, interactive way. I am also very interested in emotional intelligence as it relates to wellbeing, success, leadership and teamwork. I have been involved with a number of funded research projects including one on emotion and emotional intelligence training and coaching to support at-risk university students. I have done some very interesting work on gender roles (i.e., what we expect of males and females) and I am currently collaborating on an international project reporting our findings on gender roles in more than 60 countries across the world.
