Richard is a qualified teacher and social worker. He worked for a number of years as a social worker (mainly in child protection) and researcher (mainly in probation and after-care, and social work). Richard has taught previously at the University of York (Department of Sociology) (UK), James Cook University (Department of Social Work and Community Welfare), University of the Sunshine Coast (Faculty of Arts), and Queensland University of Technology (School of Justice Studies, Faculty of Law). He has also been a visiting fellow at the University of Luton and visiting scholar at the University of British Colombia. Richard?s main research interests are as follows: ? Child and family welfare ? Juvenile justice ? Criminology ? Peace and conflict studies ? State crime Current research projects include: ?
