Current Appointment: Adjunct Professor
Organisational Unit: Faculty of Science and Engineering
My research and teaching expertise are in low temperature environmental and engineering geochemistry. For the past 16 years my research has mostly focused on the neutralisation geochemistry and utilisation of bauxite refinery residues (red muds). This work has led to several successful ARC-Linkage grants, which have included methods for developing porous pellets of modified bauxite refinery residues (MBRR), use of the MBRR's in concretes, and shotcretes, and treatment grouts. Despite the focus on red mud, other research interests and expertise, include but are not limited to, trace-metal geochemistry in reduced environments (including mangroves), clay mineralogy and surface chemistries, acid mine drainage and its impacts, sulfide oxidation processes, and Mšssbauer studies of iron minerals.
