Biography: Leah completed her PhD in 2021. Her research project focused on the planning and management of outdoor recreation. The research project included developing an integrated sustainability, health promotion, and leisure research framework for the outdoor recreation setting. The project involved applying this framework to a case study area to better understand how to balance community needs with tourism. The case study area was the walking, mountain biking trails and multi-use trails in Herberton Range State Forest and Baldy Mountain State Reserve near the township of Atherton, QLD, Australia. The project comprised of three studies: first, a trail user study exploring attributes and attitudes of trail users; second, a community study identifying community attitudes towards adventure and special interest tourism; the third, an environmental study monitoring trail use and for trail sustainability.

Research: Leah Stevenson is a post doctorate research fellow for the iSISTAQUIT® (intervention Supporting Indigenous Smokers To Assist Quitting) (Global Alliance for Chronic Disease (GACD)/NHMRC). Major funding by the Federal Department of Health supports this intervention.
