Fendy Santoso (Senior Member, IEEE) received the master’s degree in electrical and computer systems engineering from Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia, in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, NSW, Australia, in 2012.

Prior to joining SCU, he was a Research Fellow with the School of Engineering and Information Technology, UNSW, Canberra, ACT, Australia for 5 years and with the Defence and Systems Institute (DASI), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), The University of South Australia, Mawson Lakes, Adelaide, SA, Australia for 2 years.

His current research interests include control systems and artificial intelligence (AI) with applications in (aerial) robotics. Fendy has successfully made some remarkable contributions to intelligent robotics. He has advocated the concept of adaptive control systems in aerial robotics by innovating the concept of bio-mimetic self-learning by means of fuzzy systems.

Fendy was the recipient of the "Distinguished Early Career Travel Fellowship" (under the Vice Chancellor’s Fellowship) Award from the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia. He constanly publishes in high-impact IEEE Trans Journals. He was an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Engineering Systems. He has been a reviewer for multiple high-impact journals, such as IEEE Trans on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Trans on Neural Network and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Trans on Cybernetics, IEEE Trans on Control Systems Technology, IEEE Trans on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, and IEEE Access, in addition to multiple flagship international conferences.
