Lana McCarthy is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education (PDHPE) in the Faculty of Education, located on the Gold Coast Campus. She has extensive experience teaching HPE at secondary and Tertiary levels in New Zealand and Australia. Her doctoral research focussed on team culture, leadership, coaching approaches, and how captains and coaches constructed the culture within the New Zealand Silver Ferns netball team. This was the first study of its kind conducted in NZ about high-performance female sport, and her findings were published in a book titled, The Will to Win: New Zealand netball greats on team culture and leadership.
Lana is an avid sportswoman and is an accredited high-performance netball coach. Her research interests include coaching/teaching approaches and pedagogies, developing team culture, and leadership.
