Brief Biographical Details

Meri Oakwood has degrees in Science (with first class Honours) from Macquarie University, Law (with first class Honours) from Southern Cross University and a PhD (in Science) from the Australian National University. She has previously lectured and tutored in Science and Ecosystem Management at the University of New England (Armidale), Charles Darwin University (Darwin) and the Australian National University (Canberra). Meri ran an environmental consultancy from 2001 to 2013, working with Federal, State and local government agencies across three States, NT, NSW and Qld. In recent years, Meri has worked and volunteered in a wide range of law related roles and has experience in criminal law, victim's rights, family law, conveyancing and wills & estates. Meri has written one book and numerous journal articles (in ecology). She has been admitted to the Supreme Court as a lawyer and recently worked for the Mid North Coast Legal Centre as a Solicitor. .
