2019 NAIDOC events at Southern Cross University

Southern Cross University Indigenous Events Coordinating Committee (SCUIECC) invites all staff, students and the wider community to join in NAIDOC events across our campuses.

This year’s NAIDOC theme is Voice Treaty Truth – Let’s work together for a shared future.

The Indigenous Voice of this Country is over 65,000 years old.  Languages that passed down lore, culture, knowledge, connection and understanding of country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people want their voice to be heard.

Voice - Treaty – Truth - were three key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart

A First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution and a Makarrata Commission to supervise treaty processes and truth-telling. Lasting and effective agreement cannot be achieved unless we have a shared, truthful understanding of the history of Australia.
