Michael is the University’s elected Student Member on Council. He commenced his studies at Southern Cross University via the Preparing for Success Program (PSP) which he completed in 2015. He comes to this position with an array of experience within community service and mental health and has a passion for advocating for those who are in recovery.
Michael is active within the University’s community as a student representative for the Lismore and External Students Association (LEXSA) and as an Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) mentor. He is also part of the Orientation Team for PSP. Having completed his Bachelor of Social Welfare he is currently studying the Bachelor of Social Science at the University’s Lismore campus.
Michael has a strong background in sales and marketing having worked within the industry for 15 years. In 2011, he moved into mental health and recovery roles within the community service sector, volunteering as a peer support worker within various local services. He is currently employed as a crisis support worker with Lifeline and is a member of the Northern NSW Local Health District Mental Health Forum.
