Plant Identification and Herb Authentication
Herb Authentication is a major area of specialisation for ARL. Authentication involves both identification of botanical origin and confirmation of presence/absence of contaminants and adulterants. Herbal Authentication at ARL is conducted principally by LCMS. Examined substances are compared to reference specimens of particular plants sourced from the SCPS Medicinal Plant Herbarium.

Plant substances are botanically evaluated by macroscopic and microscopic examination in the SCPS Medicinal Plant Herbarium.
