Centre for Organics Research
The Centre for Organics Research is a joint initiative between Southern Cross University and NSW Department of Primary Industries which conducts research in partnership with community and industry stakeholders.
The Centre for Organics Research provides strong evidence-based scientific and multidisciplinary research focused on clarifying some of the complex issues surrounding organics production and supply chains. This includes research into the comprehensive reach of organic production covering such broad themes as integrated production systems, sustainable resource management, economics and markets, and education and health.
We are pleased to announce that Prof. Carlo Leifert is leading the initiative and will establish it as an internationally recognised leader in organics research that achieves academic excellence and significant economic, environmental and societal benefit.
The overall vision will be to deliver outcomes to support the productivity and sustainability of the organic food industry in Australia, through the development of existing areas of research and new programs, through new collaborative regional, national and international partnerships.
Prof Leifert brings a wealth of research experience around organic farming and food production systems, and sustainable farming and food security, which will complement the existing research excellence in crop science within Southern Cross Plant Science.
