Downloading music from the Internet

If you find a site that offers a wide range of current music for free, you can be sure that they are not the legitimate owners. Much of the music available on the Internet is illegal, which means that the people offering the files do not have the authority to make the copies available to you. If you subsequently download files, then it is likely that you are also performing an illegal act. There are no provisions that permit you to use these music files in your teaching.

The University's Computing Conditions of Use prohibit the use of University systems for activity not directly related to your research, study or administrative functions. Breach of these conditions may result in suspension from the network and network services or more serious disciplinary action.

File trading activities are also prohibited by the Conditions of Use. Any software detected that permits, in particular, music file trading will be deleted from University networks.

Use your computing privileges responsibly and wisely.
