Library databases

The University Library has separate commercial licence agreements for electronic journal databases. Licence agreements restrict remote access to staff and students of the institution, although non-members may access some databases within the Library.

The terms and conditions of database access often restrict the redistribution of material in either paper or digital form. These restrictions may include the provision of extracted material within online course sites. The conditions relating to hard copy distribution are generally not as strict; however there are limitations on some databases.

If using material in digital format, staff are strongly encouraged to link to articles within the databases rather than duplicating the material. Your Faculty Librarian will be able to help with the selection and use of the most appropriate database.

Please consult the Copyright Office if the licensing conditions are not clear or if you experience difficulties.
