Healthy Campus Program
Southern Cross University is passionate about offering a range of health and wellbeing programs to assist our university community to pursue happy, healthy, well-balanced lifestyles whilst studying and working.
This program aims to increase your physical activity levels and connect you with others to improve your health and wellbeing. We aim to help staff and students at Southern Cross University commit to at least 30 minutes of activity every day.
The SCUMoves app
The SCUMoves app, designed by Technogym and customised for Southern Cross University, helps you track your daily activity both indoor and outdoor. It also provides some encouragement and support, with a variety of exercise programs and workouts, plus fun challenges to get involved! Where you Find your 30 is up to you, the aim is to get around 1000 MOVEs on the app each day. Challenge your friends, larger groups, or even just to set yourself a personal MOVE target!

Join the Australasian University Health Challenge (AUHC)
Spring into health and fitness! ake on this 6-week challenge to increase your daily movement and improve your health and wellbeing. The AUHC starts Monday 31st August to Sunday 11th October 2020. It is not too late to join Southern Cross University in this 10,000 steps challenge. Register via the AUHC website with Southern Cross University and get moving. You can connect your FitBit or Garmin accounts to your 10,000 steps account or track them with a pedometer or other tracking device. You can download the 10,000 steps app from your app store to record your daily steps. Every step counts!
WIN with SCUMoves as part of the AUHC
After you have registered for the AUHC, join the SCUMoves app challenge today and log a 1km walk or run on the app by the end of the week for your chance to win a WISH voucher! Simply:
- Download the SCUMoves app and create an account (if you haven’t already)
- Join the ‘AUHC Week 1 – Getting Started’ challenge (then every corresponding weekly challenge after that)
- Use the outdoor activity tracker to log a walk or run (the challenge distances will change weekly), starting with a 1km walk/run
- You’re automatically in the draw to win!
The School of Health and Human Sciences, Sport and Exercise Science department has teamed up with SCUMoves to bring an exclusive offer, available only to SCU staff members! SCU staff will have the opportunity to be matched with a final year Sport and Exercise Science student who will provide you with a personalised exercise program based on your goals and ongoing weekly support.
The 6-week TeleMoves program will commence on Monday 20th July and includes:
- A 30-minute initial interview
- Personalised exercise program
- A 30-minute weekly telehealth consultation to monitor your progress over 6 weeks
- A final 30-minute meeting to review overall results and achievements

Frequently Asked Questions
MOVEs are Technogym’s unit of movement measurement, so the more you move the more you’ll collect. For example, running for 10 minutes at low intensity accumulates about 200 MOVEs, the faster and longer you run, cycle, row, or whatever your favourite exercise is, the more MOVEs you’ll earn.
Anyone can use the app! We welcome all students, staff, SCU gym and community members to use the app.
The SCUMoves app can sync with other fitness tracking device’s data, such as Strava, MapMyFitness, RunKeeper, Polar, Garmin connect and also your phone’s activity tracker. SCUMoves gives you access to workouts, challenges, and you can win prizes just by moving!
Challenges are fun ways to get your moving more! We may offer weekly or monthly challenges, that sometimes have prizes attached. If you want to challenge just for your friends or colleagues, let us know, and we may be able to create a challenge just for you.
The SCUMoves app is specifically designed for use on a mobile device, however, there is still a way you can connect without having the app. You can set up an account with mywellness.com and then let us know so we can manually link you up. You can still join the challenges but you won’t get all of the functions of the app.
