As part of the University's annual Diversity Calendar we acknowledge and celebrate;
These days are acknowledged at each campus in a range of ways including;
- information stalls,
- displays, and
- social gatherings.
By supporting these initiatives, the University demonstrates that it is an inclusive and supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) students and staff, which has a direct impact on their sense of safety, well-being, ability to succeed and to be productive.
IDAHOBIT Day is a world-wide celebration of gender and sexuality diversity. There will be cake, conversation and community gatherings at Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast and Lismore campuses for LGBTIQ students, staff and their allies.
This is a day to reflect on and draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTIQ people. Homophobia, biphobia and transphobia is directed at and affects the lives of people who don't conform to majority sexual and gender roles.
IDAHOBIT Day will be acknowledged at Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast and Lismore campuses on Friday 17th May 2019.
Wear It Purple Day
Wear it Purple Day lets young people know that they have the right to be proud of who they are regardless of their sex, sexuality or gender identity. Wear it Purple Day is simple ... it is about respect.
Wear It Purple Day aims to create a world safe for all young people, regardless of their gender or sexual identity, in which they are free to learn, grow and belong.
In 2019, Wear It Purple Day will be acknowledged as part of the University's diversity celebration - the Fusion Festival at Coffs Harbour campus (Tuesday 27 August), Lismore campus (Wednesday 28 August) and Gold Coast campus (Thusday 29 August).
Please wear purple to show your support!
