It's Business. But not as usual.
This is your chance to rethink the world you live in and make a real impact.
Southern Cross University is calling all Year 11 and 12 students to team up, get creative and pull together your big ideas to help make our world better.
The Challenge: How might we reimagine a product or service to create less harm and more good in the world?
Whether it’s a bold redesign, a clever new use, or something totally fresh, this is your opportunity to think up a big idea and pitch your vision.

How the challenge works
- Form a team: Get in a group with 3 - 4 students per team, and register your team under one email in the form at the bottom. We will be able to send you updates and pointers to help steer you in the right direction as you build your pitch.
- Get creative: Develop an idea that answers the question: How might we reimagine a product or service to create less harm and more good in the world?
- Building your pitch: Make sure your pitch clearly explains who your idea helps, how it works, and why it matters. As you develop your solution, think like a business and consider how product design, finance, marketing and operations will work together to bring your idea to life.
- Submit your pitch: Either a 300-word summary or a 2-minute video. Visuals and mock-ups welcome! Submit your entry to: marketing@scu.edu.au
- Pitch to win: All submissions will be reviewed by our business panel on 30 July and the top 5 teams will be invited to pitch live at our Gold Coast Open Day on 24 August.
- Innovation & Originality: We're looking for big ideas that break the mould. Original thinking that pushes boundaries will stand out.
- Positive Impact: Think social good, environmental change, and better futures. The stronger and clearer your impact, the more powerful your pitch will be.
- Feasibility: Think through the practical side of things, like how your solution could be made, who would use it, and what challenges you might face along the way.
- Presentation: How well you sell your vision! Be clear, confident, and passionate. Help your audience see why your idea matters and why you’re the one to make it happen.
- First Prize: Tech bundle (iPad and more) + a mentorship session with the Gold Coast Innovation Hub. They'll be able to show you how you can bring your idea to life.
- Finalists: Southern Cross Uni merch packs.
- Our business panel will be hosting online webinar sessions throughout the challenge period to answer any questions you may have.
- You can use this time to clarify the project details and get feedback in real time.
- You can request to be notified of these sessions by emailing marketing@scu.edu.au
