SCU holds 10thanniversary ecumenical service of celebration and thanksPublished 17 August 2004
In its first year as a university it started out with 6435 students on the Lismore Campus, it has since almost doubled in size and now has 12,069 students, and two additional campus’ located in Coffs Harbour and Tweed Gold Coast.
Chancellor The Honourable John Dowd, AO QC said “the service is an opportunity for the University community to look back and reflect on the achievements of the university, its staff and students over the last 10 years.
There is much to celebrate and give thanks for. The university has grown its student base substantially and provides outstanding education and research opportunities to our community,” Chancellor Dowd said.
“SCU is considered a leader in the fields of plant biotechnology, natural and complementary medicine, and indigenous studies to name just a few.
It is important when we reach such important milestones as the 10th anniversary that we join together as a community to reflect on where we have come from and where we are going to.
We look forward to expanding the campus further next year with the funding of 300 new places across the Lismore, Tweed and Coffs Harbour campuses, which will allow more students from the region to study closer to home,” Chancellor Dowd said.
The service will be attended by staff, students, and members of the wider Northern Regions community. Members of the public are invited to attend.
