Southern Cross University has risen strongly in Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2018 and is now recognised among the top 500 universities in the world.
The University has been ranked between 401 and 500 in the rankings, recognising the University’s strong international linkages and research excellence.
Extraordinary opportunities for students to scuba dive, fly drones or to immerse themselves in world-class practical labs with a beach view has led to Southern Cross becoming the fastest-growing university on the Gold Coast, the University’s Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Adam Shoemaker said.
“This ranking reflects that one of the best-kept secrets in Australian higher education has finally been revealed,” Professor Shoemaker said.
“Southern Cross has already been named in the top 50 Gen Y universities in the world by Times Higher Education, and has nine areas of research are ranked well above world standard – the highest possible ranking.
“We have also introduced a range of new courses and doubled our scholarship pool to attract inquisitive, passionate and highly-capable students from around the world to Southern Cross University.
“There is no University in Australia right now that is more exciting to be a part of than Southern Cross.
“We are developing courses that can’t be found at many other universities and are introducing a unique new teaching calendar - giving students opportunities to speed up or slow down their study schedule, so it suits them.
“We have doubled our scholarship pool and are redoubling our efforts to grow our profile, so that students, potential staff and industry partners are all aware of the opportunities we can offer.”
The University has welcomed thousands of students onto its campuses at Gold Coast, Lismore and Coffs Harbour over the past month, celebrating its first Open Days in more than a decade, as the University explores new ways to showcase study opportunities.
It has also just launched a new website for future students, providing an outstanding new portal for information about new course opportunities and scholarships at ourcourses.scu.edu.au
