Youth4Sea Exhibition: Young People Working with Young People to Reduce Marine Debris in Byron Bay

The School of Education 'Sustainability, Environment and Education' (SEE) Research Cluster welcomes everyone to visit the Gold Coast Campus Library to see the project untaken by a team of artists, researchers and teachers highlighting the impacts of marine debris on wildlife and human health.

The aim of the project was to firstly understand the attitudes and behaviours of marine debris by young people and then to support, plan, implement and evaluate a campaign to reduce the amount of beach litter left by visiting young people during Schoolies Week in Byron Bay.

Once the intervention had finished it was time for the team to regroup and discuss the process which resulted in a collaborative large scale painting, which, along with photos and a documentary, offers another process of data collection – that of the audience engagement and response.
