Southern Cross Plant Science has wide experience in research partnerships, collaborations and contracts that maximise the leverage of public sector funding. We provide relevant post-graduate training and placement opportunities to bridge the gap between rural industries and internationally competitive academic research.
Our R&D partnerships cover a continuum from decisions on location of primary production, matching germplasm to growing environment, optimisation of agronomy, through to using genetics. pre=breeding and phytochemical analysis to optimise yield of added-value products.
As well as characterising and improving existing crops, we are actively involved in developing innovative new products uniquely suited to production in rural Australia.
Within Southern Cross University we work closely with researchers in GeoScience, Marine, Fisheries and Environmental Science.
