Contemporary Music Showcase

Study Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University Contemporary music students at Southern Cross University learn in a professional music industry environment and benefit from being taught by experts in a range of musical styles. The Bachelor of Contemporary Music offers study options in performance (guitar, bass, keyboards, voice or drums), industry and audio production, and music education.

Excellent specialist facilities include recording studios, music production labs, a keyboard lab, a multi-camera television studio, a photography studio, digital art labs, and Studio One29 - a professional-standard concert performance space. Students have access to the latest audio technology and creative software; and there are comprehensive practice facilities for individual and band performance. Student concerts are held each week during the teaching sessions where students perform in ensembles and bands. These are filmed by media students for tuition purposes and professional experience.

The lecturers and technical staff are well connected in the industry and there are opportunities for students to perform on campus and at local venues and events.

An annual series of on-campus songwriters' workshops funded by the Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (APRA AMCOS), brings in a steady stream of outstanding and prominent talent to provide first-hand insight and knowledge from professional musicians.

Female students are well supported through the Women in Music Program.
