APRA AMCOS Songwriting Workshops
The Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (APRA AMCOS) has provided funding to the School of Arts and Social Sciences since 2006 to enhance the learning experience of Southern Cross University's contemporary music students. This funding has enabled the School to organise an annual series of songwriters' workshops that has brought in a steady stream of outstanding and prominent talent.
The APRA AMCOS workshops entail interviews, stories and performance from exceptional musicians across a range of genres. Students gain inspiration and insight from knowledge gained about songwriting processes and guests' national and international careers in the music industry.
Held in the School's state-of-the-art Studio One29 in the Contemporary Music building at the Lismore campus, the School has had the pleasure of hosting workshops with Neil Murray, Mia Dyson, Joseph Twardos, Hiatus Kiayote, Nerida Tyson-Chew, Jim Moginie, Kerrianne Cox, Rai Thistlethwayte, Inga Liljestrom, Scott Aplin and and many other leading music industry practitioners.
