The printmaking studios encourage a dynamic and experimental response to a raft of assessment practices in a collegiate atmosphere. The printmaking program encourages professionalism through a sense of joint ownership and responsibility for the studios. Printmaking students are introduced to the conceptual understanding of contemporary printmaking practice and are taught skills in specified printmaking processes. These include screenprinting, etching, relief and digital print making. A range of excellent facilities and equipment are available for students to access.
Projects are conceptually and technically directed in the early sessions and become progressively less so. During the final sessions, students, in conjunction with their lecturer, design their own program of specialisation. Each project concludes with a group critique. Experimentation and mixed-media work are encouraged throughout the program. Additionally, workshops in papermaking and Artists Books are regularly conducted.
