Everyone has a story to tell, and at Southern Cross University we can help you bring that story to life! Imagine being part of a community of writers, whether on campus or online. Imagine receiving ongoing expertise and feedback from practicing and published writers. Imagine seeing your words in print, on the screen or performed on the stage.
If you have a way with words, a passion for writing or a story to tell, the Writing program at Southern Cross University will help get your writing out to the world. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this community of writers and become confident and skilled creative writers across a number of degrees.
Our Writing programs provide students with a broad range of creative writing skills spanning many writing genres. We provide emerging and established writers with the opportunity to focus on the practice and theory of writing, along with developing the attributes and skills needed for a professional career in writing.
The Associate Degree of Creative Writing, Bachelor of Laws and Creative Writing and Graduate Diploma of Creative Writing degrees are delivered online and at the Lismore campus in the evocative creative hub that is the Northern Rivers.
This is a vibrant, creative community which offers inspiration and opportunity for writers. Our students and graduates use their skills and expertise to establish themselves as published, active writers in this community and beyond.
Our students and graduates undertake work placements with Northern Rivers Performing Arts (NORPA), the Byron Writers Festival, and the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival. Many of our students even end up as guests of these and other writing festivals and events!
Creative Writing degrees at Southern Cross University offer a rich mix of creative writing and literary studies across a range of writing modes in fiction and nonfiction. Whether you’re a poet or playwright, fiction writer or memoirist, we can help bring your words to the page and your story to life.
