Arts and Social Sciences higher degrees research

The School of Arts and Social Sciences is a vibrant and multidisciplinary learning community, spanning key disciplines in the humanities (including history, politics, communication and cultural studies) and social sciences (including sociology and social welfare) as well as the creative practice research areas (which include new media, visual arts, music and creative writing).

Students who undertake a high degree by research (PhD or Masters) through the School of Arts and Social Sciences, receive supervision from staff in the School who are experts in their fields.

Honours courses

If you are passionate about further study in the arts and humanities, contemporary music, media, social sciences, social welfare or visual arts, and you have completed your undergraduate course at SCU or another university with a credit average or better, our Honours programs may interest you. Honours graduates find employment in a wide variety of areas depending on the area of research interest. In addition, opportunities exist in government and semi-government organisations for graduates with demonstrable research skills. Honours is also the preferred pathway to PhD studies.
