Community Seminar Series
The Community Seminar Series is held annually, hosted by Southern Cross University's School of Arts and Social Sciences and the Southern Cross Community Reference Group. It aims to support practitioners and managers in developing and evaluating innovative solutions to challenging problems. Workers in the fields of human services, social welfare and social work will especially benefit from these friendly and informative talks, starting in a late afternoon time slot - perfect for enjoying stimulating debate and refreshments while networking with friends and colleagues.
2018 Community Seminar Series
This year we celebrate seven years of the Southern Cross University community seminar series. We have engaged with community-based professionals to explore a range of relevant and interesting topics including the influence of the managerial agenda, the National Disability Insurance Scheme, advocacy and the community services sector, homelessness and the impact of the Commonwealth Games on our region. Thanks again to those of you who joined the June conversation about future directions for the community seminar series. We acknowledged the challenges of fostering social justice as the neo-liberal agenda continues to encroach on service delivery. We agreed that we want to continue pursuing opportunities for collaboration – linking research, policy and practice and keeping informed of innovative and creative practice.
