Spring into Engineering Program for aspiring girls

Spring into Engineering

Southern Cross University is committed to encouraging and supporting women to consider a career in engineering and to learn more about the wonders, opportunities and diversity of career paths available within the discipline.

Engineering is certainly a career young women should condsider when seeking employment where they can enjoy:

  • seeing their efforts make a real difference in communities
  • working creatively with processes that start with designs on paper and go all the way to real life applications
  • project management
  • working with people and in teams
  • leadership responsibilities
  • strategizing and problem solving
  • using the tools of maths and science to bring about change and predict engineering success

There is much that female engineers contribute to the discipline not to mention the organisations in which they are employed.  Those organisations well versed in the opportunities that come with embracing diversity and inclusion, are already making the necessary changes and appreciating what women offer to the workplace.

It is for these reasons that SCU has developed the Spring into Engineering Program for Aspiring Girls offering a one-day program that that provides young women with the chance to explore university life and engineering more deeply, and in a fun way too.

We are proud to say that the 2017 program is more dynamic than ever before, with the introduction of a mystery tour.  Students joining us will benefit greatly from our adventures around the Northern Rivers region, learning firsthand about the importance of engineering in our lives.
