Engineering Photo Competition

By entering the Engineering Photo Competition conducted by Southern Cross University (SCU) Lismore NSW, 2480, ABN: 41 995 651 524 you are agreeing to the following:

1. Who can enter?

1.1 Entry is free and open to high school, TAFE and university students, and the general public.

1.2 By entering this competition, you agree that if under 18 years, you have your parent's or legal guardian's consent to enter the competition.

2. How to enter?

2.1 Entrants must submit their photo by 5pm (AEDT) Friday, 7 June May 2019 by completing the SCU Engineering Photo Competition online entry form available here.

2.2 Photos may not contain identifiable people.

3. The competition

3.1 Information on how to enter, forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in the competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

3.2 All entries must be original to and created solely by the person entering the competition. The photograph must not contain any material that infringes the rights of anyone else.

3.3 Photos must adhere to the “water” theme of the 2019 competition.

3.4 Photo entries are to be saved as JPEG with file size between 1MB - 2MB.

3.5 Maximum one (1) online entry form per person is permitted, enabling a maximum of three (3) photos to be submitted.

3.6 Maximum one (1) prize per person.

3.7 Photos will be judged on engineering interest, photographic skill and artistic merit from all valid entries received by SCU by the closing date.

3.8 The prize winners will be chosen by a panel of judges as determined by Southern Cross University. The prize winners will be notified via the email and/or phone provided in their online entry form.

3.9 Following notification by email and/or phone the winner will be publicly announced by 28 June 2019 by a post on SCU’s School of Environment, Science & Engineering’s Facebook page.

3.10 An array of entries will be displayed in an album on SCU's Facebook page.

3.11 Entrants may be contacted by SCU unless SCU is notified otherwise.

3.12 In the event any winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize may be awarded to the winner's parent or legal guardian.

3.13 The prize winners are final (unless unclaimed) and no correspondence will be entered into.

3.14 SCU reserves the right to select an alternative winner in the event the winner is unable to satisfy these terms and conditions, forfeits or does not claim a prize.

3.15 The prizes are not redeemable by the winners for cash or alternative prizes.

3.16 SCU reserves the right to substitute a prize for another prize of equal value in the event that the prize is not available

4. Limitation of liability

4.1 If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control SCU which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, SCU reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition subject to any written directions under applicable legislation. SCU also reserves the right to disqualify any individual who SCU has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition.

4.2 SCU accepts no responsibility and shall not be held legally liable or responsible for any accident, loss, injury or damage to any individual or property whether direct or indirect, whether in contract, tort or negligence or otherwise arising out of or in connection with the competition or the prize either during or after the competition.

5. Privacy

5.1 Personal information provided by an entrant to SCU for the purpose of entering the competition will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with SCU's Privacy Management Plan. A copy of the Privacy Management Plan is available at scu.edu.au/privacy. Personal information collected will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned or otherwise disclosed to a third party otherwise than in accordance with the Privacy Management Plan and these terms and conditions.

6. Use of entries by SCU

6.1 Each entrant retains copyright of their photos but grants SCU the right to reproduce, publish, transmit or otherwise communicate to the public their entry, in whole or in part, in or using any media for any purpose without permission or payment. This may include University print publications, public displays and on the World Wide Web, Facebook and Twitter.

6.2 Each entrant represents and agrees that all elements contained in the competition entry or other material:

6.2.1 are original to the entrant/s and available for use as contemplated by this clause;

6.2.2 does and will not, in any way, violate or breach any of the terms of any other agreement the entrant may be a party to;

6.2.3 does not contain defamatory, tortious, or otherwise unlawful, untrue or inaccurate information, infringe or violate any copy copyright or other right, or contain any matter the publication or sale of which will violate any federal or state legislation or regulation.
