RISE 2019: Together We Go Further

Research in Environment, Science and Engineering (RISE) Conference 2019

Showcase of cutting edge Research in Science and Engineering at SCU

On 23rd & 24th October Southern Cross University will be holding their annual showcase of postgraduate research in Science, Environment and Engineering at the RISE 2019 conference. Over two days 42 students will present their research across a range of cutting edge topics from nutting out macadamia genetics to developing sea anemones for the marine aquaria trade to testing concrete structures to withstand the challenges of the future.

There will also be a photo exhibition displaying a range of images representing the beauty and wonder of research, field/lab work failures, collaboration and student life.

Conference chair Gloria Reithemaier states “I am very excited about the diverse program of this year’s RISE conference. It is stunning to see the broad range of research topics studied at Southern Cross University. One of my personal conference highlights is the discussion panel “Cooperation 101” with experts working in interdisciplinary research, industry, NGOs, and the government.”

This years conference themed “together we go further” acknowledges the essential role of collaboration in research. This involves engagement with the broader community to help identify problems that need to be addressed and work together to find the solutions. Therefore we welcome members of the public to join us at RISE 2019 and learn more about the local and international challenges being addressed by our amazing team of postgraduate researchers.
