Research interests

Nick has worked on numerous environmental consultancy and research projects whilst at Southern Cross GeoScience. He is an author of numerous technical publications in areas including acid sulfate soil assessment, landfill environmental monitoring, water quality monitoring, surface water hydrology, contaminated land assessment, carbon cycling and dredging. He is a co-author of the 2018 National guidance documents on the assessment of acid sulfate soils.

Nick has project managed a large number of assessments of acid sulfate soils in lakes, wetlands and channel systems in the Murray-Darling Basin. He has also previously worked on Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Discovery and Linkage Projects including studies on sulfur cycling and effluent re-use in acid sulfate soil landscapes. Nick is currently a Technical Officer at Southern Cross GeoScience and assists with the analytical work associated with research and commercial projects (including x-ray diffraction (XRD), LA-ICP-MS, ion chromatography and Mössbauer spectroscopy).

Nick is also the coordinator and a presenter of the Professional Acid Sulfate Soil Short Course.
