Research interests/background

Dr Asjad Ali is a Research Fellow at Southern Cross Plant Science, Southern Cross University. Before joining SCU, he was Postdoctoral fellow at National Agrobiodiversity Center in Jeonju, South Korea where he worked on bacterial leaf blight resistance in rice germplasm and genetic diversity in cereal crops. Prior to that, he worked as a Research Fellow at Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research & Extension Center in Jinju, South Korea, where he studied mushroom breeding and genetics for abiotic stress tolerance.
Asjad’s research interests include breeding, genetics and germplasm resource management. Current research is focused on the breeding of high oil content brassica under Australian conditions.
