Unit description

Encourages substantial progress towards producing a coherent and competent body of work, which shows professional ability and individual expression. In this unit, emphasis is placed on sustainability, via independent investigation and the development of the creative and expressive potential inherent in the student's work. Ethical and sustainable practice, combined with advanced innovation in material handling and ideas, should be evident at this stage of students' practice. The themes for this unit are ‘Techniques and Sustainability’.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1establish and pursue an ambitious and practical individual studio program
2demonstrate substantial progress towards producing a coherent and competent body of work which demonstrates professional ability and individuality of expression
3develop individual research interests and personal responses to contemporary art debates
4demonstrate an awareness of ecological considerations and sustainability within a studio practice.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  2. demonstrate substantial progress towards producing a coherent and competent body of work which demonstrates professional ability and individuality of expression
  3. develop individual research interests and personal responses to contemporary art debates
