Provides detailed study of the musculoskeletal system in relation to functional anatomy and biomechanical principles for human movement, in the context of health, disease, injury and ageing. Develops the ability to perform musculoskeletal movement analyses from a functional anatomy perspective.
This unit will cover:
Functional musculoskeletal anatomy for the upper limb, neck & trunk, lower limb;
Tissue mechanics and mechanical properties of bone, cartilage, ligament, tendon & muscle;
Practical exercises in performing anatomical identification from surface anatomy and for performing musculoskeletal movement analyses involving the upper limb, neck & trunk, lower limb.
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
