Introduces students to the pathophysiology underlying human disease processes with an emphasis on cell injury, adaptation and death, genetic and congenital disorders, microbiological and immunologic factors, and neoplasia. Physiological pathology of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, nervous, cardiovascular, and renal systems are foci of this unit
Topic 1: Cell adaptation, injury and death
Topic 2: Genetic and congenital disorders
Topic 3: Neoplasia
Topic 4: Disorders of the gastrointestinal system
Topic 5: Disorders of the hepatobiliary system
Topic 6: Disorders of the respiratory system
Topic 7: Disorders of the endocrine system
Topic 8:Disorders of the cardiovascular system
Topic 9: Disorders of the musculoskeletal system
Topic 10: Disorders of the renal system
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
