Unit description

Provides students with the opportunity to integrate university studies with experience of professional practice. Students apply, practise and extend knowledge and skills developed in their previous studies through a supervised professional placement.

  • Occupational health and safety issues
  • Work placement learning plans
  • Ethical practice
  • Skills of reflective practice

Other topics in this unit will align with the specific placement.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1develop strategies for achieving set goals in an area of professional practice
2critically reflect on the workplace learning experience
3work independently and collaboratively in an ethical and safe manner within the workplace
4apply discipline knowledge and complex reasoning skills in a workplace context
5evaluate and disseminate selected competency-based topics combining evidence and workplace experience

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
