Unit description

Explores the role of intrapreneurship within organisations including the motivations, systems and cultures that support those roles. Students will understand the challenges faced by intrapreneurs in driving innovation within established organisations and how they can overcome them. Tools will be used to support the application of concepts that help deliver successful execution.

Module 1: What is Intrapreneurship and why is it important?

Module 2: Challenges of being an intrapreneur – Customers and problem-solving

Module 3: Developing Customer Solutions - Ideation and Prototyping

Module 4: Challenges of being an intrapreneur – Resources and effective business casing

Module 5: Challenges of being an intrapreneur – People

Module 6: Challenges of being an intrapreneur – Technology and Processes

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1describe and critically evaluate the complex and interconnected challenges that large established organisations have in promoting intrapreneurship and innovation
2examine strategies that can be utilised to overcome the barriers to intrapreneurship
3apply various innovation tools and techniques that can facilitate intrapreneurship.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
