Unit description

This unit will provide students with the opportunity to apply the theories, concepts and skills they have acquired during their degree to a real-world situation. They will apply their knowledge to a management situation in the for-profit, not-for-profit or voluntary sector. Students will assess and analyse a workplace situation in order to develop a solution for implementation in Industry Project II.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1Identify and justify business/industry related problems or issues worthy of investigation
2Create and present an ethical and achievable research design based on appropriate methods.
3Develop, pilot and apply critical research tools that have the potential to solicit required data to analyse a given problem.
4Demonstrate an understanding of various research methodologies and their applicability to an industry context.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
