Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate an in-depth understanding of traffic engineering, and related professional and ethical responsibilities including road safety, and the contextual factors which influence decision making within the discipline
2analyse traffic and transport systems including traffic aspects such as travel demand, existing traffic volumes, traffic generation and distribution, intersection analysis, road capacity analysis, degree of saturation and level of service
3use traffic analysis software to analyse traffic engineering problems
4identify, formulate and solve traffic problems using established traffic engineering methods, creativity, innovation and pre-emptive approaches.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. demonstrate an in-depth understanding of traffic engineering, and related professional and ethical responsibilities including road safety, and the contextual factors which influence decision making within the discipline
  2. analyse traffic and transport systems including traffic aspects such as travel demand, existing traffic volumes, traffic generation and distribution, intersection analysis, road capacity analysis, degree of saturation and level of service
