Unit description

Introduces three-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) in the context of civil engineering and construction. Students will extend their knowledge of two-dimensional CAD to creating and modifying simple three dimensional models, and presentation techniques for three dimensional objects.

Manipulating the User Coordinate System (UCS)

Creating 3D models

Managing 3D CAD drawings

Creating presentation drawings from 3D models

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1create and modify 3D models of moderate complexity
2manage 3D modelled drawings and layouts, including manipulating the User Coordinate System (UCS)
3perform basic visual style editing operations and create 3D views for presentations.
