Introduces students to the concepts of lifestyle interventions that promote health and wellness, taking into account the physical, psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of the person. This unit promotes the importance of the therapeutic relationship in promoting healthy lifestyles, including physical activity, good nutrition, and stress management.
- Understanding health and wellness behaviour

- The influence of nutrition in health and disease
- The influence of physical activity in health and disease
- The influence of psychological wellbeing in health and disease
- The biopsychosocial model in the management of chronic pain
- The influence of other lifestyle factors including sleep, drug and alcohol use and environment
- Understanding health and wellness promotion
- Case studies in health promotion
- Principles of wellness coaching and communication in the clinical setting
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
