Unit description

Expands students' existing skills-base in managing chronic disease with Lifestyle Medicine specific practice such as Shared Medical Appointments or Group Consultations, Community Referrals, Telephone Triaging, self-management training and de-prescribing for examples.

Unit content

  1. Chronic disease epidemiology and the place of Lifestyle Medicine in health care and the environment
  2. Skills, Tools and Procedures that are uniquely suited to Lifestyle Medicine practice
  3. Using Shared Medical Appointments or Group Consultations
  4. Community Referral and Telephone Triaging
  5. The Principles of De-prescribing
  6. Other Lifestyle innovations in chronic disease management
