Provides students with the opportunity to broaden and deepen their understanding of literature analysis and research design in relation to an area of relevance to their professional practice. Students will produce a critical literature review to a peer review standard. Students will also produce a research proposal for future work.
The first six topics are covered in the first study period, and the remaining six in the second:
- Topic 1:Developing the research question
- Topic 2: Examining a systematic literature review and how is it done
- Topic 3: Methodology vs Methods
- Topic 4: Presenting the Results
- Topic 5: Elements of a comprehensive Discussion and Conclusion section
- Topic 6: Writing for Publication
- Topic 7: Designing a research proposal
- Topic 8: Analysing and addressing ethical issues involved with research in health
- Topic 9: Refining and focusing research questions
- Topic 10: Developing workable hypotheses
- Topic 11: Project management, milestones and timelines
- Topic 12. Composing a successful Research Proposal
