Enhances students' understanding of historical, social, cultural, economic, personal and environmental issues related to the metal industry. The design and manufacture of metal products is considered. The unit extends students' skills and methods for a variety of metals in marking out, cutting, machining, fabricating, joining, modifying properties, colouring and finishing and their understanding of the use and maintenance of tools and machinery.
