Unit description

Builds student capacity to approach the technological domain with deep understanding as an emerging design and technology educator. Human-centred design underpins this unit concerning the end user experience and where the ideas are oriented towards a designed solution to a problem that involves the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process. This culminates in documenting a novel solution to meet a specific need or opportunity. 

Unit content

Module 1 Culture and design anthropology in the classroom. 
 
Module 2 Frames for guiding practice and innovation in design and technology teaching. 
 
Module 3 Critiquing technology and innovation. 
 
Module 4 Research paradigms and planning a research based project. 
 
Module 5 Technology research project design and development. 
 
Module 6 Technology research project design, development and delivery.  

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
